Sourcing Nederland brings together sourcing professionals from across the Netherlands. From lawyers and consultants to buyers and suppliers. Through monthly events centered on current themes, they create space for knowledge sharing, inspiration, and networking. After COVID, engagement declined and the community lost energy. Together, we are working on a fresh movement in which events, community, and committees once again foster connection, growth, and a new generation of members.
The challenge
After COVID, Sourcing Nederland increasingly lost its connection with its members. Events attracted fewer visitors, committees became less active, and thematic groups that once shared knowledge extensively came to an almost complete standstill. The existing event format aligned less well with member needs, and new members failed to materialize. Within the organization, a feeling emerged that the energy was gone and that the community was not innovating enough to remain future-proof. The distance between members and the association widened, causing the sense of engagement to slowly disappear.
The approach
Together with the new chairperson, we brought renewed momentum to the community. We actively engaged in dialogue with members, committees, and the board to identify areas of opportunity and frustration. From there, we guided a reorganization of committees and board roles, fostering greater clarity, ownership, and a shared direction. Additionally, we strengthened event marketing via LinkedIn, improved the promotion of speakers and themes, and actively gathered member feedback to better align events with the target audience. Step by step, we restored structure, visibility, and renewed energy within the association.
The result
The first results are immediately visible: more energy. Average attendance at events is 140% higher this year, and the last seminar was rated an 8.5. Within the community, we are increasingly hearing that the energy is palpable again and that members feel more involved with Sourcing Nederland once more. More activity, initiative, and collaboration are also emerging within committees. This is an important step towards a community that is growing, connecting, and looking ahead once more.
